Marketing & Community Engagement: Increasing Participation and Diversity
Wednesday, Nov. 7, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

With the goal of increasing participation in arts education, this workshop will explore strategies and tactics for successfully responding to the arts education needs of diverse communities. We will:

-Examine issues of geography, class and diversity that often serve as barriers to participation

-Explore effective strategies from Ten Tools for Building Audiences including investment, commitment, research, educating your audience and faculty (teaching artists), review and analysis, follow-up, partnership, building the bridge, creating value, and appreciation

-Review case studies of community arts education organizations that have not only increased enrollment but also the diversity of their faculty, programs and student populations

-Examine how iterative marketing and creative collaborations enhance community building.

During the afternoon session, you’ll apply what you’ve learned to your own organization or program. Come prepared to roll up your sleeves and leave with a plan of action you can execute back home.
